Added to that original east/west axis is a north/south arrangement of two patios containing fountains connected by a walkway. All integrate new public art projects designed specifically for the recreated garden space. Speaking to many librarians, public officials and facility managers, there is an interest in learning more about sustainable building practices and how they can be utilized for their upcoming projects.

If you have a little architectural quirk like this empty nook in a space designed by Arent & Pyke, put it to use by building in some floating shelves. The book-print wallpaper sets the cozy scene in this reading nook designed by Martyn Lawrence Bullard. "The room doesn't get a lot of light, so I decided to make it cozy and turned it into an English-style portrait room, which is ridiculous, but fun," says celebrity chef Alex Hitz.

The Geisel library contains, of course, the Dr. Seuss collection, approximately 8,500 items related to the Dr. Seuss past, videos, sketches, drawings, notes and manuscripts. Most people don't know Dr. Seuss was a Southern Californian, but considering the use of color in his works--maybe less surprising now.
